Toxic Masculinity: Too much of a good thing?
During The Winters Group "Man to Man: Being the #MeToo Imperfect Ally" workshop we discuss how friends, colleagues, organizations and society can reward men for over-indexing on behavioral traits such as being competitive, directive, forceful, considerate and self-reliant.
What do you think about this concept?
What are the personal, relational and organizational ramifications of this over-indexing?
How do men and women benefit from addressing this over-indexing?
Our theory of "over-indexing" is derived from LIFO® - Life Orientation. LIFO measures behavioral style preferences, which may change in different environments, in other words, what you do, as opposed to a static review of your personality type, who you are. We have found LIFO helps individuals understand and appreciate the similarities, differences, and strengths in others to enhance productivity. We incorporated LIFO when we discussed men finding the appropriate balance of their strengths.
